I noticed that there are a few people at this site that buy/sell basses all the time. So i wondered, how many basses do you buy in an year? (give an average/median)

Over the last couple years, 2-3 a year, but I've got 6 now that I'm real happy with, so the GAS is pretty much gone. For now.
  3. Since January 2001 one i have had these basses.

Squire Jazz (still owned though Retired)
    Warwick Crovette Std 5 (2000- March 01)
    Warwick Streamer SII 5 (Nov-December 01)
    OLP Stingray (Dec 01 - Jan 02)
    Ibanez BTB 405QM (Nov 01 - March 02)
    Yamaha TRB5 (March-April 02)

MIM Fender Jazz Feb 01 - now
    Warwick Streamer LX 5 Jan02 - now

Now I am sticking with these two till i can afford to upgrade to higher models i.e. US Jazz Bass and a Streamer SI or another SSII.

PS this is an obscene amount of basses, I went wild cos i got a job this time last year and had money to spend, plus I worked in a guitar store on a few occassions.

At this point, 1 every three years, however, I might be able to sneak one in this summer, making it about 1 per year, I suppose.

0.2353/year so far. Two DBs and two BGs since 1985.

    High GAS-resistance, in other words.

It's hard to remember--I think I bought or traded about 4 or 5 a year for the past few years. Let me consult the master list (I have to keep this stuff written down somewhere...):

    2002 - 3 so far
    2001 - 4
    2000 - 4
    1999 - 5
    1998 - 3

'98 was when I sold my "pride and joy" Wal 4 on the quest for a perfect 5, and kinda went haywire ever since. Before that, I'd only go through one bass every 2-4 years.

  10. 1.5, but 2.5 including guitars. But I think I'm done buying axes for awhile. Now it's time to focus on my rig.
  11. I estimate it to be between 30 and 40 (serious).

bought two last year, and sold two.

    MM Sterling (95-today)
    Warwick Thumb NT5 (98-Nov 01)
    Dearmond Pilot Plus 5 (Jul 01-Dec 01)
    Warwick SSII (Nov 01-today)

so i guess it'd be 0? i'm getting a warwick fretless this summer though, so that'd bring it up to 1.

Exactly what I have done over the last few years!
    My GAS has been cured.
I have 6 awesome basses that are my keepers!
I started out the year with 12 and have sold half.
