Vintage Hiwatts and 60's NR Thunderbirds for the most part. I use a 70's fretless P bass on a few tunes. Scott and Billy Knight Patrol.jpg

My main gig is a worship bassist in a large church, which has also allowed me to play in local concerts for four large Christian artists.

I also play in a traveling cover band. We play between 3 to 12 times per month.

    • '81 Aria Pro II TSB350
    • '14 MTD CRB4
    Sound/Power

My main band is Jupiter Groove. We're an instrumental trio playing a mix of..ummm...heck...we call it "improgroovinstrumetal". We do maybe one or 2 gigs a month. Not easy booking an instrumental band that isn't playing some kind of jazz around Central Florida. We'll do cover tunes to fill the night if we have to..but nothing too contemporary. Mainly Hendrix,Floyd,Satriani....stuff like that. We try to stay away from the cover stuff..except the Hendrix...that's not covers as far as we're concerned..it's required! LOL
My gear fluctuates depending on the venue and set were are playing. Fo full sets (anything at least an hour) and large venue or festivals I'll bring at least 3 basses. A 4 string (NS 2000 or one of my Jazz Basses), my Ibanez SR 506,and my Dean Rhapsody 12 string. For amplification I'll bring my Behringer Bass V Amp Pro backed by a 1200 watt Crown amp pushing a Behringer 4x10. I'll use either a Behringer FCB or Yamaha MFC10 to control the V-Amp. I try to go direct and miked if possible. For smaller gigs I'll bring 2 basses and a Carvin MB12 full range Micro bass amp which sound amazing. I'll sling along some pedals with that setup..a delay, distortion, volume, and a mini mixer. I also bring along my 10 string Chapman Stick for some gigs.

I am now a Church Bassist that plays in a fairly large congregation. Every Sunday I play in both in the Church's Orchestra as a Double Bassist, as well as their Jazz/Praise Worship Band on a 5 String Electric. I have to keep a program on each conductor sized stand so I know when to switch back and forth and make my exits/entrances on and off the stage as discreetly as possible. I also play a regular Jazz Gig on Friday Nights that is attracting a small following, and leading to Corporate Gigs and Weddings. I usually just play The Upright on those.

    AT CHURCH

5 String Electric = Warmoth Jazz Body and Warmoth Jazz Neck with Alembic Soapbar Pickups and Bartolini NTMB Preamp

Amp = Hartke Kickback 15 as Stage Monitor run parallel through house system

Upright = 5 Sting Carved w/ Shadow Pickup Run Through Passive Direct Box Into House System

    AT THE JAZZ GIG

Upright Bass = 4 String Hybrid Strung with Spirocore Weichs w/K&K Bass Max Run Through a Fishman Floor Preamp into a Nemesis N28 Amp.

When Playing Weddings or The Garden Dining Area the Nemesis Gets Changed out for a Phil Jones Suitcase Amp.

We limit our band to two shows a month but we have become one of the top drawing bands in the city. We are very fortunate to have a great crowd that is always there for us. We never take that for granted and are humbled by it. image.jpg

Up until 3 months ago when I had to move back home to help care for my Mother, my band played 2 shows a month. We did it as a source of income as opposed to just for fun.
We played what I called "High Energy Rock".

I play for two churches (1 early Friday evening, and the other Sunday morning- every week),
The club bands are a top-40/ variety with female singer (4 x's a month), and a country band (2x's a month), along with any additional fill-in work.
    I'm out about 14+ a month.
I use a MM Stingray 5 HS for just about everything. Rig wise: It's just a Boss TU-2 going into a Sansamp BDDI to FOH, I'm IEM everywhere.
    * I do keep an actual rig in storage (an "old" Markbass SD800 and a 610) that I bring out for outdoor/ festival shows

Instrumental trio. Jazz fusion. 3-5 shows a month. Mostly galleries, events, cocktail. Was weekly at Kibbitz room, but was too late for too little after awhile (on a weds day night)
We never have a PA. I just play a TH500 and a single 12, sometimes an additional 12. No pedals. Tobias 4 string.
