My 10-string (doubled five) isn't yet in my posession, as it's still being built, but it's real enough that I get to vote. Since the strings are doubled, it's not quite as spectacular as Jt's 14 or anything.

This a pretty silly thread, but, that's ok. Silliness got Kevin McDonald everywhere he's ever been.

  3. Seven - fretless

This time I have resisted the temptation to post yet another picture of my bass!:D

    Four.
No question there, four is my favourite number of strings. And no, I don't want to start a four string vs. whatever argument.

    I'm sure there's someone on the board who misses a 1, 2 or 3 strings alternative... :)

    (Voted 5 by the way).

  8. I currently own a Reverend Rumblefish and Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass. Both are 4-strings. I've owned 5-strings in the past, but they're not for me...

Seven is the most right now... I have an 8 string ( non-doubled ) arriving in a few weeks...

Ok, who has the 18-stringer? I want to see a pic!

Fivers for me. Still haven't met a high-C string I've liked (and I doubt I ever will).

my fretted 5 is as good as it gets. if i had some cash i'd get a fretless six. that day will come. then i will answer these with pride!

  14. I have 87 strings but I'm lying.....actually 5 at most for now, and I don't intend on going more than 6 stringed.

Ok, three people now claim to have 18 string basses?? I'm guessing at least two of those thought they were choosing the "carrots" option.... ;)
