    Probably nothing...

IMPO it's risky buying an instrument in that condition with out checking it out first hand before and playing around with it...

It looks abused, i wouldn't doubt there is more problems with it, electronics and whatnot...

That Bass is not screaming out "gibson " to me, regardless of what is says on the head stock, something isn't right there.

The pickups may have been swapped out for later Gibsons.
The bridge looks like a newer Gibson replacement.
The neck damage is pretty significant, the heel joint is broken.
The heel joint looks as though it has been repaired/reset at least once.
The headstock has also been broken off and repaired.
    The wiring looks pretty disturbed.

I'd avoid this instrument unless I had big $$$$ to spend on a restoration.
This is not a do-it-yourself project. Get a nice solid P-bass, Jazz, or used
    Lakland Skyline instead. All IMHO.

  6. Yep, what they said.

although, a three string 1970's gibson bass is rare..... :D

  7. Oh, I'm sure it is a Gibson but with it needing a neck reset and with a repaired break in the peghead (..."not half bad"...GULP) I wouldn't give more than about $100 for it.
