And I'm pretty sure it's fake. I don't believe Fender was using that logo at the time, or in any of the immediately preceeding decades.

Well, I don't know if its a fake, but that logo appears to be accurate...

Ah. My mistake then. I was under the impression it was a different logo that was used at the time. Of course, I'm not into vintage Fenders, so I'm probably not qualified to make any judgements other than I think the bass looks fishy. Too new, toon nice to be that old.

If it is genuine, unmodified, and in as good a shape as it appears in the photos, a collector would probably pay $12K for it.

My Mom's friend had her brother's 1951 P in her closet for years. She moved down south. Before she moved back up, she sold it for $300. I found out about it recently, and screamed in agony. She's still got his Peavey T-40, though.

Were they using through-body bridges at that time?

Good question, Munji. I don't know what year they stopped using them.

What if it sounds like ass? I'd rather have four or five Laklands or Sadowskys.

You could send your mom's friend a link to the auction, though she'd probably start feeling bad, too, then. :D

  16. Argh and look who won that auction. That tune-o-matic fellow has quite a reputation for being rather nasty. The dudepit was following an auction of his a while back, and some of his answers to their questions were pretty tasteless.
