How much should I charge per bass track?

Discussion in 'Miscellaneous [BG]' started by bassist 4 life, Feb 18, 2008.

  1. I got this email from a guy wanting me to add bass tracks to his songs. He said that its a paid job, now I'm very eager to play in the tracks, I dont want to pick a price that will drive him away, I'm not very greedy too, so I'm not gonna ask for alot.

I'm fairly new to this so I dont know how much I should ask for per song.

Treat it like any other job and charge a rate per hour. What's your time worth?
  3. Thing is this guy contacted me through paul-garcia.com
which is sort of a broker site except for musicians.
he doesnt even live near me, hes going to be sending me the songs, ill do the bass and then ill send them back.
i dont really care if he rips me off and doesnt pay me im mainly in on this for the experience and for writing songs lol.

Then paypal me the money. I could use some cash.

How many tracks does he want? just one? I vote for the hourly rate.
  5. He wants 2 songs, I said 25 dollars.
Its fine with me lol, is it too low?

Are you responsible for creating the bass parts or are they already created for you? Are they notated? Is there a demo that you're working from with a basic bass part already included?
