I have an chance to get a 1976 p-bass tomorrow... Looks to be in reasonably good condition and complete... bridge cover, thumb rest etc.

I love the sound of an old P-bass! Problem is I can't get to it to see it in person. (have seen photos... and looks great)

Wondering if you all may have an idea of what these are going for. Saw some similar things on eBay $1,500 to $2,000... so I assume this one should be in that range.

Figure if I could get it for $1,000 - $1,200 it would be a deal

    Any advice?

    Thanks

  2. Hey man,

you are kinda just taking a stab in the dark and that is quite an investment. Anything pre-80's is going p around the $2000 mark in here in Aus so yeah im guessing thats a good deal if itsd all original.

If it is all original a retailer would ask $2000+ so $1000-1200 is a good deal IMO.

Thanks for the replies... maybe I'll low-ball it even further... If I can get it for $1000 I'll be happy... I'll ask some more questions about it. Problem is the people selling it really don't know much about it. for all I know it has a bum truss-rod or a cork-screwed neck :)
