I have an OLP an it had a whole lot of fretbuzz. so i raised the action alot to cure it. now it doesnt sound the same...it has a dead tone to it..i think it might be the pickup is so far away..so i was wondering how far away yours was from your strings..

I set my pickups just low enough that the strings don't touch them when I dig in. IME closer is better.

1-2 mm on the bridge PU
3-4 mm on the neck PU

I love "playing the pickup", it helps a lot, and no distortion or anything.
