How much would a 4-string pre-Gibson Tobias usually sell for?

    Brian Barrett's had a few, I think he asks around $2500. I can't get a value on my two T's, #196 and 308.

When I was looking at fretless 5's, I found 3 pre Gib 5's for between $1700 - $2200, but I have never had any experience with the 4s.

I'd guess the fours would be even less. I don't know if people are actually getting the mid $2K's for them or not. I won't be selling mine anytime soon.

I haven't seen any 4s advertised and in the Bass Book it says "Michael Tobias is probably best known for his five-string instruments." Maybe if the 4s were a rarity they might actually be more expensive. I bought my Classic 5 #1274 for £1,700 ($2,500)last year, but all US-built instruments are a lot more expensive in the UK.

I suppose it would also depend on whether it was a "Basic", "Classic" or "Signature" model - different specs.
