Discussion in 'Strings [BG]' started by neverending03, Apr 14, 2003.

  1. i was just wondering how often i should change my strings? i changed them about 3 months ago when i bought my new bass (Fender P-Bass LYTE deluxe) and havnt changed them since then. They seem to sound fine at shows and what not. Should i still change them?

The calendar has nothing to do with it.

If you're getting a sound you/your band/your audiences like, I don't see any reason to change. A few big name bassists leave theirs on for years because they like the mellowness and softened tone of strings they have left on for years.

If you want high output and that piano-like, new string-brightness, then change. That aspect of tone is dependent on how much/often you play the strings and the quality of the strings, not how long they've been on the bass.
