I recently received a peavy 2x300w 4ohm powered mixer for cheap and was wondering how to wire my 4x12 (30w rms, 16ohm speakers) to avoid blowing them by accident. The amp puts out 205rms if I switch it to 8ohm. If I wire the speakers to 16ohm by a series/parallel how much less power would they draw from the 8ohm setting, somewhere closer to 120w rms at max volume I'd hope?

You don't have to rewire anything, just don't turn the amp up past the point where the drivers start distorting. That shouldn't be too far, if your drivers are actually 30 watters they're guitar drivers, not bass.
