How to build a bass from scratch

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by supernaut, Aug 7, 2003.

  1. I have recently become interested in how to build a solid body bass from scratch. I don't think I will attempt this real soon but I would like to do some reading on the topic. I have a good idea about body construction and routinc and pickup wiring but the whole neck is a big mystery to me. anyone know of a good book out there that really goes through how you make a modern bass guitar. how do the guys over at Ken Smith and Roscoe make those things. thanks.

    Build your own Electric Guitar

Covers a variety of construction methods... Mine's an older version, but in it he builds a very happenin' 8 string, (octave pairs), neck-through bass... Worth it just for the read!
