I want a preamp/head with the clarity of SWR but also the oomph of Ampeg...Any ideas? Ebs HD350? Aguilar db659? I don't have a heck of a lot of money, I already have a Crest power amp and an SWR Grand Prix preamp, but I am missing some of that warmth on my Modulus, a preamp would be best but Heads will be taken into account also. And keep in mind that I play a 5 string and love to go deep. Thanks, Marc

    check out the
    SWR IOD
    Ampeg SVP-Pro
Sansamp bass driver direct box or rackmount pre.

I have an SVP and i love it. I've heard only good things about sansamps and IOD's though. The sansamp seems like the cheapest way to go, and the IOD seems a bit redundant since you already have the grand prix. I think you'll find your answer in those pieces of equipment though.
