How to put a Pickguard on a bass!

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by liquid-dream-ex, Jul 31, 2003.

  1. Hey all!

I want to design a Pickguard for my Yamaha Bass, becuase i got a bit tired of its look, but i dont wanna destroy it with drillholes from screws.

Is there a way to place a pickguard without damaging the bass in anyway, so that if i dont like it anymore i can put it away without any marks?

    ummmm, double sided tape??
even if you use wood glue or something, there will still be marks after wont there? if you want it on there without a mark after, i cant really think of something. maybe just make sure you love the pickguard first!!??

Put the screw holes in your new pick guard in the exact same spots as they were on the old one, then you'll just be using the existing screw holes an can put your old pick guard back on later if you want.

  4. There are no screws in the bass, it never had a pickguard before.

I maybe will try it with double-sided Tape, or maybe i'll just take the risk and drill the holes, i dont plan to sell the bass anyway.
