How to sand a finish smooth and keep gloss?

I had a section of my bass head where the logo underneath created an air bubble/made it opaque and smoked up.
I tried sanding it down and then putting a drop of envirotex finish to remake the gloss layer...but then i realized that I would have to sand that smooth to be flush with the original finish around it...
How do i go about sanding down that little hump of glossy envirotex resin while keeping it gloss (a polish? wet sand? turtle wax? etc)

All of the above. Wetsand to a high grit (600 at a VERY minimum), then with steel wool, then buff it with a polishing compound, then wax with a carnauba based wax.
