How to try a bass local shops don't carry...

    I'm interested in a particular Spector bass model, but can't find a shop within 500 miles that carries it. Anyone ever faced a similar situation? If so, what did you do? I hate to spend a bunch of money on something I've never physically held/seen/played.

    The real question here IMO is: who carries the bass in question?

    GC/MF have some pretty liberal return policies, as do other online retailers. If you end up disliking the instrument you'd likely be out the shipping cost either one way or both ways, but that prospect beats travelling ~1000 miles to try out the bass IMO...

    As a southpaw, this has always been the case for me. Had to buy online.
