How to wire a switch for series/mute on a jazz?

Discussion in 'Pickups & Electronics [BG]' started by CzarMike, Jun 21, 2004.

  1. I currently have my geddy lee jazz wired up with an on/on switch for series or parallel. I'm wanting to make it permanently series & have the parallel side mute my signal. Does anyone have a diagram or instructions on how to do this?

    Thanks a million

Hmm... Pickups or Setup? Let's try Pickups...

  3. Well I guess technically all I'm asking is how do I wire a switch so one position is muted?
    Thanks again

Well, if you want either series or off why not just hardwire in series and then use your existing switch as the on/off. It's easier to do it that way

To hardwire in series, connect the neck ground wire (which is going into the switch, the hot is into the neck vol pot) to the bridge hot wire (which is going into the switch, the ground is going to ground) and solder them together. Tape/shrink tube the soldered ends together.

As to on/off switch, there are a couple of threads in the history here which should give you a diagram. Have a search, and if nothing turns up let me know but I'm certain there's stuff there.
