Hey, to all you vic fans
i was just wondering how he gets those string tunings. does he buy a set of strings for a five string HIGH C and throw out the LOW E? if so, would will the different tension ruin my bass? and one last thing, why does vic call it a tenor bass? are there different types?

    Thanks, Jay

  2. getting a 5-string E-A-D-G-C set and chucking out the E is definitely a valid way of doing it. The tensions would then not be that different and NO your bass will not be ruined. You "may" have to tweak the truss rod and most-likely will have to adjust intonation, but that's all.

Also, I recently came across a set of labella strings at juststrings.com that were listed as "piccolo" but the gauges 0.080, 0.065, 0.045, 0.030 indicated to me that this set was more designed for tenor bass not piccolo bass.

Check out more of the set-up forum. There's a few threads there about this very subject.
