How would you play this on bass?

  1. Ever since I discovered Victor Wooten, my concept of the bass, how it is played and the context in which it is played, has greatly expanded. I had known about Charlie Hunter for years previously but even though I really like what he does, I didn't really 'get' his 7+ string bass/guitar until I found TB which was a relatively recent thing. Even so, Wooten does what he does with 'normal' 4 string or 5 string basses which blows me away.

With that in mind, just wondering how some TBers might adapt the tune below for the bass? I know everyone will have their own artistic interpretation but I'm just interested if you'd approach it with a 4, 5, or 6 string, the style and/or technique. What's possible and what's not-so-possible?

I'd go out on a limb and say this could be played on a 4-string with a capo on it. You would probably have to leave out a few of the ornaments he's playing and omit the 5th and imply the root on some chords but I'm pretty sure it could be played on a 4-string bass.

You'd have to use your thumb, 1,2 and 3 fingers for the plucking/arpeggiating. I don't think you'd need to do any kind of 2-handed tapping simply because the voicings are so close together and that would be the wrong attack for the notes.
