Howie Epstein: Tom Petty

    It's sad the way he went out. He was a great solid player.

    I have massive respect for all of The Heartbreakers. If Ron ever wants to call it quits again I'll gladly take the job. They are easily one of my favorite rock bands of all time.

    If you've never watched the Runnin' Down A Dream documentary, do it. It's pretty awesome.

  3. He did good work as producer for his girlfriend, the wonderful Carlene Carter, too.
  4. As kids our homes were a few blocks apart and we attended the same schools, tho at different times. Howie was about 5 years older than I, and regrettably, I never knew him well. What I do remember though, from around '70 or so, was discovering a band rehearsing, and just sitting on the grass and listening for a while outside the basement window of his folks house. Could have been Howie's band, I don't know. When music was in the air on summer nights, it usually came from the direction of the Epstein home.
    Thanks for allowing me to share this. Can't believe it's Ten years since we lost Howie.
