yes, but more flexibility in the long run. Used is the way to go. You can get a lot for your money if you can handle cosmetic imperfections. How much in US dollars?

  5. 750EUR=+/-750$ i think

wich brands do you suggest, so i can search ebay or so

  6. For cabs, you may consider a new Avatar. They are very cheap, and very good.

Gallien Krueger or Carvin. If you can find a 1001rb 700rb combo jump on it, you won't be dissapointed. The Carvin Cyclops is supposed to be nice, but have not heard it. What kind of music, style do you play? This will make a big difference.

  8. punk/metal/hardcore, but i also like to play sum jazzy stuff.

if it mathers: i have an active bass.

I have also heard good things about Avatar. They are inexpensive and have Eminence speakers. Dave is really nice also. You can get a 410 for about $400US delivered.

You can get a 400RBIII combo brand new for $800 delivered to your door. 240 watts, but it sounds like a lot more. I used a 400RBI in a speed metal band in 87-89 for bigger clubs through a single 115 and through the house system an it kicked butt!

  15. wich brand?

Gallien Krueger. They have been around for ever and have pretty much stuck to bass. They RULE!

Another thing that you should consider is whether you play a 4-string, a 5-string, or whatever, because not all bass cabs can support that low B well :)

I'm starting to piece a rig of my own together, and I don't have much cash so my main concern, besides tone, is cost and flexibility. I took me four months piece by piece, but my rig is (so far):

    Avatar 4X10 $340
    SansAmp BDDI $179
    Carvin DCM100 Poweramp $329

The sansamp sounds suprisingly sweet as a stand alone pre. Now all I can do is go up. When need (and cash) arises, I can get a better preamp, compressor, and a 1X15.

I also looked at GK-backline and Carvin, and felt all of their cabs left something to be desired with the bottom end.

The backline stuff is pretty, how you say, lame. If you can get into the RB series stuff it's your best choice.
