HUH???? BIG 400+ question

Discussion in 'Amps and Cabs [BG]' started by crazybassist601, Nov 18, 2005.

  1. The guy at guitar center said he thinks they are discontinuing the mesa boogie 400+.
Talk about that for a while....

    Guitar Center, huh?

They always know what they're talking about.

  3. Too true. I was going to contradict your post....but you've reminded me what a veritable think tank of amplification genius that Guitar Center represents to the bass player. Carry on.

I wouldn't worry too much. If Mesa discountinues the 400+ I'm sure they will have a 400++ shortly after. The 400 is one of Mesa's staple amps, they won't be ditching it anytime soon.

More likely the guy at GC was trying to scare you into buying the amp right now. I've been told by GC employees that all sorts of things were being discontinued, I think the only one that proved accurate was the Motiff (which was discontinued and replaced by the Motiff ES).

  6. I just seriously laughed at him and said mesa can do what they wish but that would be the most stupid move I have ever heard of.

That'd be like fender discontinuing the P-bass. Not happening.

It's beautiful once you get used to it. I didn't like the look at first myself. Maybe it's like having a sedan that's a sleeper, you start to like the look because you know what's under the hood, but it grows on you.

Considering Boogie's efforts of late I'd hope they DIDN'T redesign it.

  10. The back looks wonderful :p

    Too much hip thrust
It could use a facelift to keep up with all these fancy looking amps coming out these days.

Facelift. Meh. Next somebody will say they should make it lighter.

  13. I've always wanted a plexi front on my 400+. The tube glow would look great from a dark stage.

  14. The 400+ is so unassuming in the way it looks. It's just so simple and clean looking. All they need to do is add a couple of blue LED's and they'll sell twice as many.

Blue LED's are like catnip for bass players.

  15. On the subject of GC's veracity, I was shopping for a GK 1001RB-II in September, and the Sales Mgr. (!) himself told me they were discontinuing the model, in hopes I'd buy their only remaining floor model. Disgusting...

You can't be seriously saying you'd use, or not use, and amp based on how you think it looks, can you?

    Ha! No.

I've never heard it, if it's as good as people say, I wouldn't care if....

    .....

...if it even had a behringer logo! ;)

I dont think I like them to much, I would rather play out of a rogue 15 watt combo....... :D

  19. He wasnt lying, eventually it will be discontinued, he never said when ;)
