  3. Whats the skinny?

SX is sold from probably hundreds of retailers around the world. First time I got acquainted with SX was round about 1999-2000 in Sweden (where I come from), one of the store chains there who imported and sold, pretty good stuff, I still have a sx "vintage" stratocaster from that time (in pieces, plan to hot it up "some day") ...

well, seeing as Kurt at Rondomusic is the sole US importer of SX guitars and basses makes this look a little suspect.

But the seller has a perfect feedback rating.

But the seller is using the same pictures from Rondos site.

I'm going to guess, that the seller has a reseller account with Rondo, and when you buy the bass from him, he orders it and has it shipped from Rondo.

Or I could be full of it.

    I don't see what's the big deal.

The person can have bought any numer of SX basses in one country to sell in another. As has been said, Rondo isn't the only SX seller in the whole world.

Or they simply buy stuff from Rondo, keep everything in the box so it's still "new", and resell for higher price.

Not the best deal for the buyers, but I don't see anything too shady besides counting on people not knowing there is cheaper, perhaps better service elsewhere. There are plenty of serious scams on ebay, some even including SX bass parts being passed on as something else, but isn't it.

I just bought an SX tele for $120 shipped to my door and I'm pretty sure it comes with all that extra stuff o_O

  7. Price is $170 with free shipping. At Rondo you'd pay about $110-120 for this bass, plus $25 shipping (or so). So it's $145 vs $170. Not a huge difference, but still. That said, it's a "BIN" auction, so if you're using the cash back thing, you can probably shave off half of the difference.

At $170 shipped, it's still not a bad price. Go to GC and see what a bass of similar quality with a gigbag and tax would set you back.

That all said - I'm starting to think that ebay is a den of thieves - a lot of honest people on it, but more dishonest people than your average survey of society.
