Hunter from AFI - this guy needs to CHILL!

Discussion in 'Bassists [BG]' started by fleabass89, Mar 10, 2001.

  1. I think Hunter from AFI is one of the best punk bassists around, but he needs to chill out! His "basslines" are like constant 16th notes at a punk tempo! For example, listen to just about anything from Black Sails in the Sunset. I think his tone sounds cool, but he plays so much and so fast that it comes out sounding like sludge sometimes. I think he needs to play about half the notes he usually plays.

    HEY!
    no one can beat Freeman.
i heard a couple AFI songs
    i didn't notice anything extraspecial,
    they're pretty tight with eachother,
but i don't care for the singer that much though.
have a nice day and god bless you all.

I'm listening to "the art of drowning" right now. Hunter's playing isn't really that extraordinary, and his tone also seems sloppy at times. It seems like he tries to mimic Freeman on "sacrfice theory".

  6. On the art of drowning it's not really extraordinary, but on Black Sails in the sunset, it is. He goes crazy!
