Hey TB- I'll be going to Huntington Beach for a gig and I don't want to tote my Ramirez on the plane. I don't trust the airlines. I'm wondering if any of you know of a good place to rent a decent bass for a few days in the area (or borrow one from). Also, I'm in need of a decent cello too. Any help would be excellent. Thanks!
try beach music at 19400 beach blvd. his number is 714-378-9999.it's a very good store with a decent selection of basses.I don't know if he does rentals but the owner is a very nice guy and he's very pleasant to deal with.the couple of times I've gone there he's been very courteous and helpful.
^^ Is that at Garfield and Beach? I don't see rentals on their site - but these guys rent gear::: Fountain Valley Music 714-963-2010:::
Morey's Music in Paramount (east of Long Beach) for the 'cello and try World of Strings in Long Beach for the bass and maybe a 'cello as well. Mugre
Offer's still open if you need to borrow one. I'll be out of town from may 4-6, but if it's any time before/after that, let me know (I'll even throw on your string of choice)
I'm in HB and I have a Squire pBass too. I also have a Carvin 4 banger with Geddy Lee Jazz pups in it too. But let me look around locally. Off the top of my head there's a few shops you can call around. A & B music. This is a great little mom and pops shop. They give lessons and I believe they have rentals too. If you're looking for a viola, this might be the place. They tend to deal with acoustic instruments as well. AB Music Studios | Music Lessons in Huntington Beach, Ca Neal's Music. I have never dealt with these guys but they're local. NEAL'S MUSIC These guys are more of a repair shop, but they're great guys. They do good work and they're straight up honest guys. I have an SX Jazz 5'vr that they made the mistake of installing 4 string geddy lee pups in. Long story short. I got to keep the pups and they installed them in my Carvin 4 banger for free and I got a new set of pups in my SX. They have some gear, but I/m not sure if they rent it out. Worth a call. If you can deal with these guys then you'll be stoked. They also work on my guitarist's guitars and amps too. Ask for Hugh. Tell them you were referred by Daren (or maybe not come to think of it - the SX bass I was referring to was Joe Nerve's old bass covered in porn ). This reminds me I need to give them some love on Yelp. http://www.13thstreetguitars.com/ Just found these guys. They advertise rentals on their site. I've never stepped foot in this shop, so... Looks legit. Close to where you'll be too. I think I need to stop by here. Give me a heads up when the date gets closer, and we'll try to hook up for a beer or three. You at least have a Squire Pbass you can use. Hell, I think I have an old Fender 100watt 1x15 amp lurking around in my garage too. So that's the minimum you're starting with. See if you can beat it. I bet you can.
