Hutch's Fretless

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by fretlesschris, Dec 27, 2001.

  1. I just got Bonnie Rait's Live "Road Tested" DVD and was just awestruck by Hutch's sound with his fretless. Does anyone know what it is?

It looked like a semi-acoustic electric but I couldn't really tell.

That guy is just a smokin' player!!

And what a nice wall of SWR cabinets!!!

Hutch is well known for playing Guild Starfire basses (which have semi-hollow bodies). I don't know if Guild ever offered a fretless version or, if Hutch just had one (or more) defretted (if it was a Starfire that you saw him with)...
  3. Yes, that describes the one in the DVD. Thanks for the info.

I got to meet him at one of those week long National Guitar Workshop's for Bass and he is one heck of a nice guy too!!
