...as I scroll through the ads in the for sale:effects forum, often times I have zero idea what people are selling. They just put the name of the pedal, and not what it actually does. For instance, they’ll have several pedals labeled something like : BingoTwinkie Severed Asparagus $150 Largasaurus Elfcast Zero $210 MinotaurDeath Whispering Butterfly $155 I don’t have time to look up all these pedals, So I scroll to the next ad and hope I know what They are. Would it be so hard to add one word to the description so idiots and impatient people like me know what the heck you’re selling ??? For instance.... instead of “BingoTwinkie Severed Asparagus $150”..... perhaps “BingoTwinkie Severed Asparagus Fuzz $150“.... that way I know what your selling and you don’t lose a potential sale... My 2¢ NOW GET OFF MY LAWN !!!!
I’d be sending messages all day, and writing a ton .... Instead of the seller adding the simple words “fuzz” or “chorus” as a description.
To be fair, most sellers are good about this. But sometimes you see a post with ten pedals and no descriptions whatsoever. I just go to the next ad....
A simple link to the pedal makers website or the plethora or discussions buried deep within the pages of the FX forum. That’s a good idea, DH. If I ever sell another pedal I’ll do that.
Yeah, really, what a pain. It's just like when people post new threads, and put basically no information in the title about what's actually in the thread. Oh, wait...
I suppose there’s this attitude of “If you’re not hip enough to know already, you’re not cool enough to own it”, or some such silliness. Fine, keep trying to sell it, then.
I typically try to include a description and specs, etc, or a link to manufacturer website with that info for all my listings, but that's just me. When browsing, I either know what I'm looking for already, or will look up details on anything I'm not familiar with if not included in the listing.
There are some pedal companies i am aware make interesting pedals but tend to shy away from for exactly these reasons, the nomenclature of their pedals just drives me bonkos.
I agree. I actually commented to someone on his massive pedal sale that I, gasp, wondered what the pricing was because his ad was so confusing and was accused of trolling. Then magically prices appeared. People are real sensitive about the most asinine things. If you're on this forum you are probably a bass player. Not necessarily a great communicator.
