I’m thinking of getting a Tbird, but I want to put elephant inlays on the neck. Is this a sin?

I know, I’m a weird person. Laugh at me all you want. I’m just wondering if this is a “sin” (obviously not in a religious sense) in the eyes of Tbird lovers. I don’t want to deface the TBird, just add my own touches.

    You mean like this?

    No, that’s fine.

I deserve that, and to be fair, it’s funny. More like this, however.

It's your bass and inlay stickers are so reversible without leaving a trace.

    It's your bass.
I wouldn't do it myself as I'm strictly a 'dots' guy but I can't see any good reason not to.
In fact, it's a pretty cool way of personalising your instrument.

    Sure. Go for it.

There's bound to be a good story or a personal meaning behind it. Don't hold out on us man!

I think that if you really want to do it, you should go ahead.

I say this as somebody who wants to stick a Bigsby vibrato unit on a Mockingbird guitar, so what would I know from tasteful? :)

Cool man, do it. Should look tidy.
I'd have to put Dumbo on the headstock though.......

As long as it isn't a 63-69 or 76-79 I say go for it. Your resale however will take a nose dive.

I feel there's an underlying problem here, memorizing the fretboard...

...the elephant inlays will be put in place, as a solution...

I don't think @DigitalMan was trying to be funny... :).
  15. Are those stickers o proper inlays that need the wood to be carved?
In any case, it's your bass so you can do whatever you want. If the wood needs to be carved you know you will lose resell value, but if you buy a second hand Epi that won't be a big deal. Also, if you plan to keep the bass forever and ever, no issue.
The only no go for me would be if it is an old somehow collective instrument (and again it will be yours still so you can do whatever you want).

All that being said, I'm surprised how cool those inlays look

I have an inlay sticker on my Aerodyne. Seeing as that it doesn’t come with any inlays I thought it looked cool.

Its your bass, what anyone else thinks should not matter...would I do it, no, but if you would then rock it!
  19. Aww... I was going to type that. Haha!
