    Hello all!

As the title states, I am new to the bass guitar. I have had 7 years of tuba experience, so I thought that I would try my hand at the bass guitar! I have picked up an Ibanez starter kit last week, and I had my first lesson this Saturday. So far I have gained alot of knowlege from this group so thank you all! I hope to be able to play well enough to be able to do some small gig's...but if not, oh well...no loss, as long as I enjoy playing.

Welcome to TalkBass. You'd be surprised at the tuba-to bass player turn-over we have here.

  8. Hello N itt0 and a warm welcome to TB.

Enjoy your time on the boards and listen to what people say. You'll soon get to know who leans towards what aspect of playing, gear, basses or whatever. There are some really top guys on here and the advice is usually honestly given and free flowing for genuine enquiries.

Most topics have been covered (in the nearly 2 years I've been aboard) so I respectfully suggest you use the search facility before posting about specifics. I also suggest a little peek at the Moderator's comment and advice post at the head of each forum.

Have fun, and nice to have you with us.

    :D

  13. Welcome! I picked up the Bass after 20 years of tuba playing and teaching, and it is my favorite instrument! Even though I Play and teach tuba professionally, I still practice Bass more, and day dream about buying new basses, not new tubas!
