I am addicted!

Discussion in 'Basses [BG]' started by silent method, May 26, 2005.

  1. Well it is official I am addicted to playing bass, buying basses and looking at basses.

I started playing this december and since then I have bought 2 basses and buying a 3rd this weekend from a fellow tb'er it is this essex Jazz

I dont know what it is but I feel such a strong desire to collect basses. I can't go 5 min without seeing another one I want. I spend ALL my time at work looking at basses and suffering from GAS. When I am at home I play until my fingers are too sore to move then I sit back and stare at my basses and just enjoy their beauty. I love working on them and upgrading them and learning all I can. When I am walking around town I am building bass lines in my head I can't stop thinking about bass. I can see myself in 30 years like of of those crazy cat lady's only surrounded by basses and humming complicated lines and complaining about theroy. Anyway just thought I would share my insanity with you. Thanks for your time.

  4. this is way way way worse then just GAS though I really want to collect basses. I seem to NEED a new bass even before the last one comes in.

I still have scars on my knees from this weekend. I had to beg the boss (wife) to let me get the Sadowsky. Lots o' arse kissing!

Hey, this is a family forum...we don't need details :D

Well I just got the ok to get a fretless, but I think I have to sign a contract saying that will be it *lol* Luckily I've never really wanted more than just a fretted and fretless 4. It's a matter of just staying happy with the ones I currently own :)

I've got 10 basses, 6 or 8 rigs, and an upright. I want another upright.

It does not get better over time. The best you can hope for is that gigs cover the expenses.

Or that you win the lottery;) Have fun!

It kinda depends on how many times you use amp a with cab b, or cab b with amp c, etc....

I personally feel like if you're a working musician, you can justify new gear. If you're a schlub like me who just plays for their own amusement, you tend to feel bad about buying new stuff, especially when people around you don't get it :)

Once you have kids, it's hard to justify taking money out of their college fund to go buy a NYC Sadowsky. :D

    I haven't done it yet, but I've threatened to. :D :D :p
