I came here from a link on a Rush board.

I am a beginner bass player, but improving...

I just bought a Yamaha RBX270 - I know it's not high end but it is a hell of a lot better than my old BC Rich Warlock.. :D

    Glad to be here.

RBX270 was the first bass I ever played. Not bad at all.

You will learn a lot here and you will have a tremendous resource for info.

At least you have good taste in music. You could have said "I came here from a link on a Milli Vanilli board". :)

Welcome to TalkBass. Don't be ashamed of your gear bro. We all start somewhere.

Technically, Milli Vanilli isn't music. They're perfomers. Bah, I digress. Glad to have you!

Thank you everyone for the kind welcoming.

Rush is definately my favourite band. Huge Geddy Lee fan here..

    ... and no I don't think he's an attractive dude :D

I too started out on a BC Rich Warlock (a friend's) before I moved up to a Yamaha RBX170 (also a friend's). Good call on Rush... listening to the way Geddy plays under and over Alx and Neil has been a great help to me.

Cool - yeah my brother played classical guitar and he gave me the BC Rich. I'm going to re-string it and give it back to him after 10 years... The Yamaha I saw new at a store for the exact colour I wanted for $100 less than what I was gonna pay, so I just said screw it and bought it.

But of course I did try out some of the nicest Fender Jazzes beside it. :( ... too bad I didn't have and extra grand to drop on one of them.

I am not new here, nor do I remember how I found this place. But I'm glad you're here all the same.

    Now send in $20!
