ordered my stingray 5 today... im giddy incase it matters here are the specs piezo's trans blue maple fretboard matching headstock black pearloid pg now i have to wait for it to be made.. anybody have an idea on how long i'm going to have to wait for it?
It will seem like longer than it really is... I would like to tell that it will be worth the wait, but since I have absolutely no patience, I couldn't wait. I took a floor model and "settled" for what color they had.
oooh, that's gonna be a beauty! welcome to the club. when i bought my 1st stingray i wanted a specific colour and i was told there's a 6 month waiting list - that's in the uk tho. i gave yup after a month and just had the best colour they could get at short notice - trans red. i think it'll be the longest wiat of your life!
Hi FB, I've heard that about 4 months is the average. Congrats on the new bass. Let us know if it comes sooner. Doc
Hey Man, I just finished the special order process with Ernie Ball on a 'Ray 5. Ordered the bass in mid-June, got it in October. Mine is quite similar to yours except without the matching headstock and I got trans. purple, otherwise black moto guard, maple neck and piezo. A real dream bass for me. Bet yours will be for you, too! Congrats.
Great purchase and a great bass. MM's grunt like no other, even though I sold mine (the avatar.) I'll probably get another some time.
I hope this bass meets your needs for a long long time, because it won't fetch anywhere near the $1450 if you decide to sell it.
Actually, 'Ray 5's hold their value rather well. It's not unusual to see one in near mint condition go for a grand and even more on ebay. Considering what other basses go for new and their resale value (try getting even half of new price on an Alembic sometime), I'd say these basses are among the better ones where resale is concerned. Keep in mind that this price is for the upgraded pickguard, matching headstock AND piezo bridge p/u, all extra price options.
but I haven't truly tested the market with my Stingray. Mine was bought new at $1,250. I hope I get a grand if and when I sell it. It hasn't been the same since 9/11/01.
well they are made in SLO and you live in santa barbara, so you could go to the factory and pick it up, pretty fast, ... i wanna get a job their durring the summer, sanding or something, that'd be fun.
