    "Hippie sandwich"
    OP is being a ham.

A term meaning a bass made from layers of laminated exotic wood.
    Usually with a through neck.
Usually referring to Alembic basses and those that are constructed like them.
What is this "hippie sandwich" of which you speak?

Love me some Hippie Sammich. Gonna build one some day. Corn beef and Swiss, with Purple Heart accent for some tangy zest.

It was me, I made it up. No, really. Maybe a Grateful Dead reference? The first Alembics that got some real exposure were made for Lesh and Garcia if I remember right, including the truly silly Guild Starfire with more knobs than common sense. I count 13 knobs, there’s a video of him trying to describe what they all do and.... he forgot.

The modified Guilds and Gibbys came first, but Alembic #72-001 was Jack Casady's bass. #72-01.

Well! Please forgive us, Dr. Grammar! I believe the alternate pronunciation is “sammblich”.

Well, some of the basses end up being the bassist's bread and butter, right? And some just end up for jamming. And some unfortunately end up just loafing around the house. Makes you..uhh...er...Wonder.
