I Don't Like Stomp Box Pedals

Discussion in 'Effects [BG]' started by Bigfeet, Jun 29, 2001.

  1. Not to boast or brag, but God cursed me with size 13"W shoes, I have a very difficult time with pedals. I have to be very carfull with the button or I crush the controls, I like Ibanez ToneLoks Because of this. Any suggested companies that make special pedals like those.

(please no comments about the feet, I already know what they say about guys with big feet)

I feel your pain. I wear a size 16. So I know what you mean. But you know what they get the chicks attention if you know what I mean.

    Yup. (15-4E w/SL-2 Last...long AND wide  )

Boss pedals are similar to ToneLoks, i.e., large stomp pad.
They have a few especially for bass: Chorus, EQ, Limiter -
Enhancer (compressor), Overdrive, and Synth. All come
in a housing frequently described as built like a "tank" or
    "brick sh*t-house". Check `em out -> click.

If ya' can, try out some New Balance 877 or 878 sneaks.
They go from 6½-B to 15-4E. They don't have those
stiff "rollbar" doo-hickies, so they're real comfortable. And
one of their lightest shoes. Closest thing to barefoot I'm
    gonna' get :p ...http://www.newbalance.com

Or you can go the way I did get some Chuck Taylors. Or some running shoes they seem to run larger so you might need to get a size smaller than you normally wear.

Where'd you get size 16 Chuck Taylors? Them old
canvas hi-tops were my favorites!...until ships converted
to Diesel and then Nuclear power and a ready supply
of large hunks of canvas became scarce :p .

EDIT (n/d): Geez, I'm lazy today...just went to the Converse
online store. Their hi-tops go up to 17. Don't say nothin' about
width though. I have to assume "D". Crap :(

The Chucks are pretty wide so your foot might fit. I got mine from Eastbay.com. They are some good shoes.

What's that -- that they wear big shoes? :D
Peter Steele (Type O Negative) claims he wears a size 15, and he swears by Boss pedals. I don't know for sure what the Ibanez pedals are constructed of, but the Bosses are made of sheet metal.

  9. Ibanez are plastic but you can push the knobs down so you don't step on them and break them and change your settings.

i once jumped out of a tree onto a DOD pedal

  14. Did it break? Did you break?

  15. Actually it's a rugged metal chasis, but it has a weak looking finish that makes it look like a plastic kid's toy like the Dan Electro pedals.

BTW my bass was scratched up, it was a squier though, so it doesnt matter

  18. I wear size 12 Converse All-stars, bright red. I think they go up to size 15, though I'm not sure. High top canvas sneaks are the best, man!!

    Rock on

  19. All I wear, but theyre going out of business, theyre stpping production in the US, but are continuing in Japan, so it will be VERY to find soon. This process is starting right now, as they are closing many of the COnverse stores (the 2 local ones are gone :( )
