I want a guitar! Guitar's always been my closet fetish and lately all I've been wanting is a bone crunching sick guitar sound. Idk what to do...I feel like I'd be betraying my fellow bass players... :bawl:

Dude, I play both... It has helped me become a better bassist and has helped me become a better writer for my bass lines... Nothing wrong with...

Screw us. What do we matter? Go get a guitar. I play one, too. The more you know, the more you know.

Do what you want to do and be happy ....

We're only faceless bots on a bass nerd forum.

I bought a guitar last week. And another yesterday. :) I'm on an SX guitar binge. Not a fan of SX basses, but bought a $99 strat that's blowing me away, and just had to drop $150 on a Les Paul. If guitar was my main instrument I'd probably think they suck, but the strat has incredibly low action w no buzzes and perfect intonation, looks awesome, feels solid, stays in tune, and sounds pretty dang good to my ears.

Go buy some guitars. They're fun.

  12. I've always wanted a Goldtop Epi or Gibson LP..

I have a couple guitars and a banjo on top of my basses. An electric ( Spector ARC so it's not so bad), acoustic and classical. I find that it helps keep the creative juices flowing and break out of ruts. More power to you if you want to go guitar.

But remember... Never go full gui****.

In addition to my '72 MIJ Orlando P bass I have a vintage '79 MIJ Jarock electric double-cut and a '87 MIJ Alvarez Yairi DY80 12 string acoustic dreadnought.

I'm now on the hunt for a MIJ 6 string electric acoustic single-cut. Maybe a Yamaha this time?

...yeah, this bassturd is a gui**** too! :)

  15. Learning to play it will significantly help your bass playing. Soloing, chord structures, all that stuff.

Not only that, but your bass chops help your guitar playing. It's just like a baseball player that swings a couple of bats or puts a weight on one to make his bat at the plate feel a little lighter. Bass stretches out your fingers so that guitar becomes easier to play.

I agree with most. I have two guitars, Seagull Acoustic and Gibson SG Special, as well as an Epiphone Mandobird electric mandolin (exact same body shape as a Thunderbird (which I also play (been making me wanna complete the family with a Firebird))). Got a broken banjo that I'll get fixed one of these days too.

grab a guitar and play it to your hearts content. but always come back to your home BASS!

I'd bet a good portion of TB players own guitars. You're not alone.

I have a revolving stable of them. I wanna pick up an LP and an ES-335. If you're looking for one I'd recommend a Classic 50's or 60's MIM Fender Strat or Tele. Beautiful colors, sound exceptional for the value.

True. The problem is that I can't get my fingers jammed so close together in those small spaces (as in a D chord that goes 5-5-7-7-7-5)

I love playing my tele squier, thouhh!
