I finally did it! I just ordered my first ever custom bass. It's a Geddy Lee style jazz bass from Nino Valenti Basses.

    Features:
    Maple neck w/maple fretboard
    Black Block Inlays and Binding
    Alder Body
    Aguilar OBP-1 preamp
    Nordstrand NJ4 single coil pickups
    White/Black/White pickguard
    Chrome Hardware
    BadAss II bridge
HipShot UltraLite Tuners with Vintage style Clover keys
    Hardshell case

I went with the classic black for the color. I can't wait to get my hands on this thing. 1 day down, and 89 to 119 to go. I'm thinking about having myself placed in a medically induced coma to keep from going crazy with anticipation. :hyper:

Pictures and a review will be forthcoming upon its arrival.

Yeah, waiting for a custom bass is hard thing to do, waiting for my Roscoe drove me nuts but in the end it is all worth it. You can't rush quality and having seen some of Nino's work that is exactly what you will be getting.

Count yourself lucky only having to wait 3-4 months. I think Fodera's are close to a year now, and to order a new Warrior is like 6-8 months.:hyper:

Having played several of Nino's incredible basses at the NYC GTG last September, let me assure you that you have every reason to be making yourself nuts during the wait ;)

I played that amazing Geddy V side-by-side with a couple of Sadowsky's and it absolutely crushed the sad's, both in feel and tone ...... great choice .......

That looks beautiful! You must be getting pretty stoked about getting your hands on the thing.:hyper: I certainly would be.

    Late

  12. Yeah, 3-4 months is definitely not a bad wait.

And last I heard, Fodera is over two years now. Some have waited longer than that.

Jean Baudin is waiting on a Conklin that he ordered in September of 03!!

Thanks, I got an F Bass during the wait to help me with my gas, but buying a custom and seeing it come together can cause you to feel like a kid anticipating Christmas when they know what they have asked for is under the tree.

Yeah Nino is great with his waiting times it's next to nothing compared to other builders, I'm yet to play something better than either of my valenti's

    You'll love it

Hey ptidwell, what's that bass in your avatar? It looks pretty sweet! Any bigger pics?

  16. I have to say, his basses look really well made, and probably sound awesome, but I can't get over the design of the headstock. Does he let you change that if you will ?

Why do so many people dislike that headstock  I find it way more attractive than most designs, and the way those basses play, who cares about the headstock .....

  19. I guess I've been told.

Too bad. Really, it would honestly prevent me from getting one I think.

Your loss, I have two valenti's and the headstocks look amazing against a fender, far less bulky and more streamlined very very nice, but hey if you don't wanna order one just means I'll get my next one quicker

Maybe WishBass can make you the headstock of your dreams
