{} I went a favorite store mine to get a nicer gigbag for a bass of mine. By the the way they sell a really nice store brand bag for $49. After getting the bag, I noticed an older Fodera preamp among the used effects and boxes. It turns out it belonged to the deceased TB member, Foderaman. This store sold most of his gear last year. Some of you may remember videos I recorded last Spring playing his Foderas, Sadowskys, USA Spector, and Warwick’s. Cutting to the chase, I tried the preamp with my Geddy Lee and it was fire. The preamp is called the Fodera 2000. It is a Mike Pope designed box. It is quite simple with treble boost, bass boost, mid cut-boost. It also has a mid bypass foot control too. Simply put, it is ideal for the classic active Jazz tone. This gives my Geddy even more versatility. Update: here is a quick demo. There is some distortion because I had the master volume too high for much of the video. I got rid of the distortion and hum by really turning down the preamp master volume. This is the sort of tone I heard at the shop today.

congrats and great choice! heck you could have your sadowsky and ken smith as well! they both make preamp pedals too.
I have had a few Sadowsky pedals. I like this Fodera pedal better. That said, I don’t think I truly understood how use a boost only preamp when I had those Sadowsky pedals. That Ken Smith costs a arm and a leg!
I've had one for many years, mine was an original so no external power. It runs 2 9v. batteries, and was my always on pedal. My main problem was, as long as a cable was plugged in, it was active. I continually left it plugged in at practice and came back the next week to weak or dead batteries. I eventually replaced it with a Bassbone, but couldn't bear to part with it, it was that good. Now, both are in storage
I love that Mike Pope preamp. I didn’t know that it was available as a pedal. I have it on board, and as you discovered, it is a powerful tool. Having only owned passive bases in the past, the tonal range that’s available now at my fingertips while playing is just amazing. Good pickup, Doc!
