I had to wake up early. I had to drive and wait at GC for the doors to open. I pushed my way thru the crowd and reached my goal... A brand new Schecter 004, set neck, flame top, EMG w/ active, no dents, no scratches. $59.99!!!! For those who hate GC, I'm with ya. But when there is a special sale (not just a regular, weekly BS sale), you should really go. The bass isn't for me, it's for a friend that works there. He told me what was up and I owed him a favor, so I snagged it. It was the price anyone could pay, don't think I got a "special" deal. I think that company is crazy sometimes, but it's all worth it on occasion. (Got an alembic f-1x for $150 as well, the other day.)
Sounds like a good deal.......... Question..Is there anything wrong with it? or where they just trying to move some inventory?
There is absolutely no problem with this bass, no scratches, no dents, truss works, was set up, battery was good. They must be smoking crack or something, they could have charged 2x as much and it still would have gotten snapped up. The dude I bought the bass for is somewhat fickle, but I'd be amazed if he sold it. Schecters are some of the best sounding basses I've ever played. They are a steal at $450. $60 is just unreal.
That was the only thing that was really kick-ass. There was other gear that was a good price, but not good enough for me to put the effort into it (a couple decent guitars, some rack gear). It was either a good product at a good price (slightly below ebay or fair value price) or it was busted and was at a GREAT price. The Schec and some Yamaha P bass were $59, the rest was tagged $150 and up and wasn't great. Believe me, if I had more money to spend, I would have, but I'm trying to get gear that wasn't on sale (dag nabbit!), so I had to restrain myself. I'll be there on Labor Day, though, I tell you what!
Unbelievable... I was going to buy the exact same bass for 450 bucks. But another deal caught my eye that I couldnt pass up.
The reason they wanted to move it is it is "D" coded in the Guitar Center system. Which means a piece has been discontinued by the manufacturer, Guitar Center tries to blow through D coded pieces by any means necesary and usually uses the big sale days to do so (Memorial Day, Labor Day, 4th of July). All in all you got a great deal, and if you were one of the first 20 people in line you should have gotten the book "Career Fuel" as a bonus.
Yeah, ain't I a stinkah? I remember GC, used to work at the store. But I never thought they'd have that much trouble getting rid of that bass. I remember the codes too: A- Regular stock C- Not carrying anymore D- Discontinued E- Exploded G- Promo H- Hidden, only at certain stores Y- Special order
