I got my new bass a week ago, a DeArmond Pilot Deluxe 6 string, maple/walnut neck through, mahogany body wings, active electronics with 3-band eq.
I love it! although the bridge leaves a lot to be desired.
anyone who is looking for a bass and is not familiar with DeArmond owes it to themselves to at least check them out.
I do have one question, how do you remove and prevent
    fingernail scratches in mahogany?

Congrats! I have a DA Starfire and it is a very nice bass also. I can't help you on the scratch removal.

For prevention, cut your nails shorter! :D

    Congrats on the new bass!!!

Actually, my local music store just recently started carrying DeArmonds, so I have had a chance to check them out. I played a 5 string for a little while there the other day, and I was quite impressed with it. A very nice bass for not a lot of money.

My DeArmond Starfire Bass is as well put together as my friend's Guild, and sounds great, too. They get stuck with the "cheap Korean" label, but that just ain't accurate.
