I have my eye on this SD Curlee. Any advice?

If only he hadn't put that model one pup in it.
    Looks nice otherwise

Hmmm, betcha you could slap a Dark Star right in there, though. I've always wanted one of these.

Yeah, a Curtis Novak pup would sound nice in there.
The bass is clean and even at his high end of $600 the price isn't to bad. $450-500 would be great. Curlee's are cool.

Yeah I saw this last night and thought it looked cool. I hope you get it for the price you want!

The OEM DiMarzios are a big part of the appeal of the Curlee bass for me. That eBay offering just does not look right and the PUs will not give you the Curlee experience. I would hold off for the real deal.

I love every era of USA Curlee basses. This one is modded, but not butchered. The biggest thing is to be sure the truss rod works correctly. There were frequent problems with these.

The Japan made Curlee Intl. Series did not suffer from truss rod issues, btw.

Adding two pair of new DiMarzios will cost around $300 and they will be black, so it still look like a mod.

For an eBay purchase of a Curlee, get seller to confirm that the truss rod works correctly. The truss rod is fine on my USA. I believe the ones with problems is an issue of how the necks are trimmed, so it is a case-by-case issue.

The Curlee neck extends all the way down to the bridge mounts, so it is a neck through design that slides into the body wings. Pretty unique design.
