Well, I just put on a brand new set of strings, and went off to band rehearsal. When I got there I started my sound tests and whenever I played the B note on the E string it made this horrible distorted vibrating sound. On closer inspection, right above the 6th fret there was a kink in the string which is why it sounded terrible whenever I played that fret. I have no idea what could have happened, but it would take quite a knock to the bass to damage a string. I noticed the fret was pushed in very slightly too. God damn it, brand new strings. I fiddled with the string and moved the kink off of the fret so it doesnt make that noise, but, still its not perfect. I still have no idea what could have happened to the bass for this to happen. I guess there is no way to fix the string huh. D'oh. Jim
