How the hell is he getting that clicking sound? I don't care whether or not you think he is the anti christ, but i wanna know how the hell I can get that sound out of my crappy little BX100 amp, and 5string Ibanez ergodyne. I can never figure out tones and stuff, I must be retarted. Like you take a band like Tool or Project 86, they get such a rough kind of sound with their bass in drop D, how do they do that? But most of all, what is up with the Fieldy sound? I gotta be able to figure this out, I know one of you knows...please help a newbie!
  2. get 2 amps..

amp1 - boost lows, cut mids and highs

amp2 - boost highs, cut lows and mids

The clicking sound really has nothing to do with his amp. ANY amp can be set up to sound basically like his. It's all in the way you play it.

And no, I can't explain it.

Off to "Miscellaneous" since I don't think it's really amp related.

To get the sound, you need an amp with a tweeter.

Boost the lows and the highs, and cut all of the mids. If you want to record it, you need to mic the tweeter.

You need a 5 string Ibanez with very low action, tuned (one step down) to A D G C F. Cut all your mids out and boost the bass and treble. It would probably help if you had a 31 band EQ to do this. You will need a cab with some tweeters in it also.

    Then just slap away

raising your neck pickup to where it is just low enough to where when u slap the string, it doesnt hit, helps also.. really clicky..

oh yeah!! cant get the clicky tone without lowering your action..

so a quick review of what youll need:

a 5 string bass- de tuned down a full step.
    low action
    raised pickups
amp with a graphic eq. lows boosted, mids scooped, and highs boosted.
    cab with a tweeter

    anything else?

    ohh yeah

    fubu clothing and sunglasses.

Also, make sure that your bass matches your outfit.

FearOfGod, I don't hate Fieldy. While he is not the most talented guy around, he does have a very original tone. Admittedly, it's a love it or hate it tone, and most hate it, but IMHO it works very well with Korn's music.

    what he said.. ;)

seriously though.. i hate him.. just kidding..:D

on your amp, just turn up the highs and lows and cut out all the mids... guess you do the same on your bass... then lower the action really low.. tune down a whole step.. basically what everyone else said. but I don't know if you really need to tune down a whole step.

I don't hate Fieldy - it's that guy from Bizkit who isn't my favourite.
