Does anyone have a recommendation for a good sounding ring mod that doesn't cost a lot? My Zoom multi board had a great one, but I couldn't justify keeping it for only one setting. If someone has sound clips, that would also help.

most ring mods are expensive. the cheapest one ive heard of (in another thread) was the DOD gonkulator which is the effect the incubus guitarist uses (so unfortunately that has made the prices go up on ebay).

one you might want to look at that i think sounds great is the rastop designs bass ring mod: http://www.rastopdesigns.com/effects.htm#bassring . the site has a few clips too.

another one is the frostwave blue ringer: http://www.frostwave.com/blueringerv2/index.html ..

neither are what you would call cheap tho!

Yeah, but I said inexpensive. That's quite beyond my price range right now... I'd have to trade a bass for it!
  5. I'd just save up and get one of the good ones used... you could always get your money back out of it.

If you're handy with soldering you could build a Green Ringer for around $30. It's not exactly a ring mod and isn't very versatile but it can get that sound.
