i love the sound of the good old american jazz bass but im looking for 24 frets and maybe something with a humbucker in the bridge and a snigle in the neck. price range up to maybe $1500. need a backup that also provides a different vibe from a warwick thumb...and we all know what those sound like :D

Peavey Millenium Plus. MM pup at the bridge, J at the neck. Wide variety of tones available.

Or, better yet, a Peavey Cirrus.:)

  7. How about a Mike Lull modern 4 or 5. They are a 24 fret jazz with a bartolini 3 band preamp with switchable mids. YOu can ge them with stacked humbucks and a coil tap, or just single coils. Mike does such a good shielding job, hum with the single coils is much less of an issue. There is a Lull Modern 5 available here used for $1400.

All of the basses mentioned thus far would meet your criteria. So would a Pedulla Rapture J2.
