Aren't you 14 for another week or two? ;)

BTW, thanks for filling out your profile...it DOES help us a lot!!!

What type of sound are you looking for?

Do you plug into the PA at church or are you on your own?

    How loud do you play?

Do you prefer a combo amp (all in one) or a separate head and cabinet?

For $600...you could get a new Behringer BX3000T head and a used cabinet (or even a new Avatar) or a good used Peavey or Hartke head (3500) and a good used cabinet.

With careful shopping you could end up with a 300+ watt head and two speaker cabients (2x10 and 1x15) That should take care of just about everything.

Here's a brand new Avatar B210 Delta on ebay now for just over $200 with shipping...

A nice looking used SWR Workingman's 1x15...a great sounding cabinet

    a used SWR Workingman's 2x10T

Used Hartke 3500 head...should go for under $300

    Brand new Behringer BX3000T...

    You have lots of options....
  3. Id look for a Trace Elliot 410 combo, something like a 1210H. They have plenty of power (300w / 4 ohms) and the 12 band pre-amp is very useable with plenty of EQ and compression options. And if you locate a newer one, it glows! Most, even the older models are configuerd to be able to drive an extention cab... Here in England the newer versions go for around £350-£400, older ones for less. Just a thought...

used is definitely the way to go with your budget. just see if you can bring along soemone who knows what to look for and can evaluate if there's anything wrong with it. The classifieds here on talkbass a a great place to check out used gear. Heads should be no problem, but combos and cabinets can get a bit expensive to ship, but don't rule them out entirely. I woudl try to get a setup that allows you to put aout at least 200 watts into whatever cabinet(s) you end up using, that way you won't end up outgrowing it too fast. Especially if you get a head that can can drive a mimimum of 4 ohms and put out 200 or so watts into 8 ohms and an 8 ohm cabinet. That way you can end up getting another 8 ohm cabinet later on to be louder. Some combos will also allow you to plug in an additional 8 ohm cabinet. these usually have an internal 8 ohm speaker, so when you add another 8 ohm cab you end up driving a 4 ohm load. If you find stuff locallly or anywhere else you can always come on here and ask our opinions/experience with the items in question before you buy it.
    best of luck
