Can someone please recommend a good amp for under $200? I only just started playing about two months ago so I don't need something fancy-schmancy. I already own an 80x watt Marshall amp with reverb for my guitar that I"ve been playing over a year.

But now I need a BASS amp so I don't blow out my guitar amp! Should I buy one online? http://www.zzounds.com is a pretty good site. Otherwise, if I get some replies all recommending the same amp I might head up to DADDY'S JUNKY MUSIC tomrrow. Thanks.

I saw a Fender Bassman 20 or 25, I forget, for $300...how does that sound? It was on sale.
  3. i got a 50watt peavey basic for $100 out of the classifieds. The sounds not amizing but you can like roll it down the stairs and it will still work.

I got my Vox T-25 (25 watts) for $200 at Mars Music. It's great for learning or practice, but now I want something bigger. (400-600 watts)

In this price range, I say go used. I sold an Ampeg B50R recently for $175. I probably could have gotten more for it - I bought it for $225 used and it sounds awesome. It was loud enough for practice and quieter jams, just needed more power to get past my two guitar playing buds...

I bought that FENDER Bassman(25) 25 Watts @ 8 Ohms today for $269 plus tax brand new. It sounds great! What a difference from playing my ass on my Marshall 80x Watts guitar amp and this! I sound so much better now! Isn't that weird? I don't sound like I'm making any mistakes at all on this. On my guitar amp it seemed like a lot more often if my finger was a little off away from the fret it would buzz. With his new bass amp, that doesn't happen.

Anyway, what do you think of this deal? Pretty good, no? That Zzounds.com site had it for $265, but add in taxes PLUS shipping & handling. So I got a good deal I think.

This amp challenges the notion that a lower Wattage bass amp has to be featureless junk. For starters, the 25's wedge design put its beefy, flexible tone where you can hear it. Auxiliary inputs and a level control make rehearsing to CDs and tapes a blast. Headphone jack, tuner out, line out, EFX loop, Enhance circuit, and 3-band EQ round out this little dynamo's profile.
