    Have you installed anything recently?

Also, what system are you running?

Try to uninstall and reinstall AIM, clear out your cookies and temporary internet files and then go from there. If that doesn't work try to do a system restore back to a point in time when you knew you could use AIM and log onto Hotmail fine.

Look for a file called "hosts" in your WINDOWS folder, copy its contents and paste them here. Some sneaky spyware variants like to change your hosts file to redirect you to junk sites.

Also, which ISP are you using? AOL? You might be experiencing a problem with the name server there, and it might be temporary. That seems to happen on a fairly regular basis, with AOL at least.

Do you have "Sam Spade"? If so, you can use that to test the name server. Can you log into "any other URL"? Google and that kind of thing? Do the Google links to secondary sites work?

And, AdAware is probably one of your best friends. "Hijack This" is good too. :)

AOL seems to be having trouble at the moment, I tried to snag a free throwaway email account a few hours ago but the webmail page kept on timing out. Hotmail seems to work for me, though.
