hey, I'm just starting out on bass, and I was wondering if about $325 was enough to buy a decent bass and amp? and also what type of bass I should look for? I would be playing with a couple friends on guitar and drums, nothin serious just having fun, so what kind or size amp would I need for that? And, if you have any other advice for a newbie like me, thanks.

    hey, welcome to talkbass!
amp wise, if your gonna be jamming with friends and want something thats gonna last for the next few years, go for about 60-100 watts i reckon, i recommend the Hartke B-60.
Bass wise probly a MIM fender will do you nicely, fairly cheap, good for beginners and once you get a bit better and want a better bass, you can mod t to hell easily! That or one of the lower Yamaha models (BB, RBX 160?)

take a look in the technique forum for a lot og helpful advice to!

  3. look at the selection of used basses.
they can be in nearly mint cond. but much cheaper
