    Help with modifying sound

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a bass that I use as backup to my MM Stingray and Its a very good built and pretty bass but I hate the sound. It just seems as thought the sound is not clear and the tone is muffled especially when playing with the rest of our band at a higher volume. Would you recommend something to me as far as changing the pickuops or anything else that would make this bass good.

Below is what it currently has. I appreciate your help if you can on what I could do to make this bass sound good.

If you like how it plays, gut the electronics and start over. Possibilities are endless. Time to read, read, read...

Thats the problem I have no idea when it comes to replacing what i need. I want clear and crisp sound that will use the same specs I currently have. I was hoping someone could recommend me based on what I currently have on my bass.

Search for pickup review, and buy something that says 'good clarity and crispy' by most of the reviewer. You can also listen to sound clip.

You can also take out your active preamp, and/or replace it.

Some people may give you advice in this thread, but I would say that EMG 'Hz' with a good pre-amp may be the way to go for what you're asking for.

Will pickups be the only thing I need? If that is the case then I will do that. I just want to make sure that I get everything needed.

What is the type of pickup I have? That may seem crazy but I have no idea what style pickuyp that bass has.

Do a search, it's easy to find this kind of informations by yourself.

Why not bringing your bass to a good pro tech who can give you advise and installation?
