I currently have Warwick Thumb BO with the stock Mec
electronics. I like the tone but the preamp has been
replaced twice already and is going again. I could get it
replaced again but why bother since Ive come to realize the
mec electronics are crap. I asume keep the pickups since
not much can really go wrong there and just replace the pre
amp. The thing is I dont want to change the tone just have
a better quality preamp. So what are you suggestions?

PS, maybe this belongs in the pickups forum, but I figure itll get more views/responces here.;)
  2. I'm thinking you'd like Bartolini electronics in a Warwick. Not having a ton of experience, but hearing lots of buzz about the barts being "woolly", "dark", "thick", "growly" and stuff that sounds like a better choice for the Warwick than say an EMG, which would get you a hotter, more hifi sound. The Aguilar or John East preamps also come highly regarded by many here. I just bought a John East BTB-01 for my Roscoe, it's a bass/treble stack knob jobby. The U-Retro (or J-Retro) has a mid with sweep too. Kind of depends on how many holes youhave, or if you want to drill. Haven't received it yet, so I'm still without any experience with it. I'll let everyone know when I put it in.
